People who think that cricket is only a body game and it doesn't require Brain are stupid. Besides physical muscular powers a player must possess mental abilities to think in a cricketing way. Cricketing knowledge and awareness are required as well. It is not that if you've a powerful body you'd definitely taste success in sports, you're not going to survive if you lacks any of the qualities that I mentioned above. The Physical and Intellectual both.
How often we see in cricket that a player comes, played cricket for a year or two and then he suddenly disappears and never comes back again? There are different factors for that context but what I'm trying to explain is you've to maintain both your mental and physical skills in order to get grip on the game.
Aggression is important and so does mental calmness on field, keeping things cool in mind in the most difficult situations is important to take the right decisions cool-headedly, you have to keep calm and put your heart and soul in the game to make yourself aware and conscious, this method would give you ultimate decision power which will turn into good match results in your favour.
A champion is who that outplays the opponents in the most stressful situation, who can steal the victory from the mouth of the opposition and turns the table in a matter of seconds.
In cricket if an individual player stick his neck out and have courage, cricketing skills & awareness of the game then surely no one can stop him achieve new heights and records. If you ask me to put my finger on one thing that comes first in sports then I'd choose the mind over skills.
Not all the players in the world have these qualities in them, but the ones who possess all these qualities are the one who sets their name on top and rule the hearts of millions for decades.
